Comeback Kid Tour and DVD Announced!

CBK are pleased to present their Canadian Fall tour along with Bane, Misery Signals, Shai Hulud, Outbreak and Grave Maker. All to coincide with the release of their forthcoming DVD and live CD release.

Comeback Kid, one of the hardest touring bands in hardcore today, is thrilled to announce the October 14th release of Through the Noise a retrospective documentary and live concert DVD (Smallman Records in Canada). Corresponding with the release of this DVD, Comeback Kid will headline a cross-Canada tour with support bands Misery Signals, Bane, Shai Hulud, Outbreak, and Grave Maker.

Through the Noise contains the documentary “Our Distance,” which uses intimate footage to follow the band both onstage and off, touring, and recording from Comeback Kid’s first show to present day.

Alongside the documentary, the DVD features “Live in Leipzig” a crushing live performance of Comeback Kid playing in Germany on November 23, 2007. Surrounded by six cameras, Comeback Kid’s onstage intensity is vividly captured as they shred through songs spanning all of their albums.

A 17 track audio CD of “Live at Leipzig” is also included in the package.

The Through the Noise tour planned in support of the DVD will take Comeback Kid across 20 Canadian cities starting October 8th in Vancouver, BC and ending October 27th in Hamilton, ON. Misery Signals, Bane, Shai Hulud, Outbreak, and Grave Maker join Comeback Kid on all dates. See the tour section for all the dates.

Want to Work At Smallman?

Smallman is hiring for the position of label assistant. What are we looking for? Someone to help in the day to day work of setting up marketing plans, creating bios, updating websites, doing radio tracking, some accounting, some databasing and a whole lot of tears.

Since we do everything in the office - from management to label to booking - you will be immersed in all aspects of the business end of the music industry. The catch? It’s in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We’re a stone’s throw from the longitudinal centre of Canada, if that has any value. Plus you would get to work next to Ruben, who can de-bone a chicken in under 2 minutes - and does so on a regular basis. The person we hire must actually like music (unlike everyone else here), must actually want to go out to shows (unlike everyone else here), and must be competent at word, exel and will hopefully have had some exposure to working with html coding (very basic - if you’ve set up a myspace page and understand how banner codes work, that’s all we’re asking for. If after reading this you’re asking yourself “What’s myspace, you are not what we’re looking for. Go back to your gardening, grandma).

Interested? Well then get off your apathetic summer ass and send a resume to rob@smallmanrecords.com . We’ll be hiring in the next two weeks.

Absolute Punk reviews Carpenter

This is what AbsolutePunk had to say:

Who?

Ex-members of various bands like Daggermouth, By a Thread, Speaking of Heroes and All-State Champion coming together to craft songs reminiscent of the rootsy rock n’ roll of John Mellencamp and 90’s emo greats like Texas is the Reason.

How Is It?

Quite good. Law of the Land doesn’t stray far from its punk roots but still gives listeners a refreshing change. One way Carpenter achieves this is through the lyrics. While many bands seem to prefer singing about girls and relationships, this band brings to light the struggles of independent farmers, a topic very few bands speak out for.

“Off the Road” showcases their Mellencamp influences with acoustic guitars, harmonicas and an infectious chorus. On the other hand, “Until the Sun’s Up” proves the band’s love of 90’s emo, which is especially evident with the opening guitar riff.

Ultimately, Carpenter’s debut full-length is diverse and promising. If you love poppy hooks that aren’t overproduced then look no further. As singer/guitarist Dan Sioui states, “I just try to write hooks so if I catch someone singing a lyric or singing a chorus or something, to me that’s like mission accomplished.” Luckily for him, Law of the Land accomplishes just that.
